The school is located in Gem-Wagai Sub-County, Nyagondo mixed secondary school was started on 20th February,1993. At this moment, the school had only twelve (12) students with ten of them continuing up to form four. The first group of teachers were form four leavers who voluntarily offered their services as they awaited to join the University. This was an act of giving back to the community and in the process encourage other young boys and girls from the community get an affordable education without having to travel long distance to other places which was a great challenge at that time.

It was with a lot of dedication, hard work that the visionary and pioneer educationist, Mr. Vitalis Osuri Aketch took up the role of the first head teacher of Nyagondo. A strict disciplinarian ,and an ardent Christian, Mr. Osuri pursued the vision of ensuring there is  a high performing community school, with zeal which saw the first set of candidates being presented for K.C.S.E. in 1996 registering a mean of 5.4167 with only 12 candidates.

The institution was started mainly to take care of the many students from the community, who could not afford boarding fees. Secondly the other schools around were Sawagongo, St.Marys Yala, which were far flung and the parents could not meet the costs due to financial challenges making some needy but bright students from the community miss out on the prestigious opportunities.

The school’s main challenge was scarcity of land a small parcel was allotted to the school and soon the construction of the firs single stream classes began. Over time the growing population has witnessed the construction of modern multistoried five streamed classes with a modern administration block.

 The first teachers were diploma teachers deployed to teach in the primary section but also dubbed as subject teachers in the secondary section; something that they did with zeal and pride as the first pioneers teachers to cater for the needs of the enrolled students. The school has witnessed tremendous growth from a population of 12 students to more than 700 students now.

The school is sponsored by the  Catholic Church and the students are natured spiritually by the priests within Nyagondo Parish.

The school has had four principals since its inception namely;
