Nyagondo
mixed secondary school has been defined by hard work, dedication, sacrifice and
self discipline of our students. These values have been the pillars behind its
sterling past success and increase in student population. However more needs to
be done to achieve better performance in the national exams as it is, only a
handful off students are gaining direct admission to the university which is a
great concern to us teachers.
With the
leadership of our very capable Principal, Mr. Obat, who has a vision and
commitment in steering Nyagondo to greater heights, students and teachers are
not leaving anything to chance. The school has already come up with the
following academic strategies to improve our overall school performance;
1.
All
candidates and pre-candidates register for 8 subjects and not any less.
2.
Exposure
to joint exams with other schools as rolled out with humanities department being
the first to lead the way.
3.
Candidate
class being examined on full papers.
4.
Conducting
counseling programs every Wednesday. This is geared towards bringing attitude
and behavior change among our students. Counseling involves various topics on
behavior and academic issues.
It’s
my strong belief that good academic performance will only come as a result of
concerted efforts by stakeholders. I therefore urge the teachers to endeavor
giving individual attention to assist students and consistently ensuring follow
up on their academic growth. To our students always embrace an independent
reading culture to avoid last minute rush during exams that only causes panic.
I urge parents to also support the students and provide a conducive environment
and necessary academic materials for their students.
God
bless you all.
